The presentations that we all did for our speech class were truly amazing. All of the power point contains relevant information that one should desire to read and implement in life. The one about intercultural communication gives much insight into understanding the different cultures we have and, hence, learning how well to communicate with everyone. Examples of countries with multicultural populations are given to let one understand that every country is taking that form due to ease of movement. For instance, the US is a multicultural country, and hence one needs to learn to live with everyone to enhance economic and social development (Kim et al. 2019). Every culture has a unique value that people accept, but they may be different in another culture.
Intercultural communication explains that one should learn about the dominant cultures so that it can be easy for one to interact with others. The practice is likely to encourage one to live peacefully with others after learning their values and cultures (Bhalla, 2019). Other critical issues addressed include sex and gender that characterize culture. According to the work, gender consists of the behaviors that one acquires depending on the sex. Additionally, information about religion is provided as a critical issue in understanding culture for different people. Vital information about customs has been addressed, and hence one can communicate effectively.
The work on “communicating in groups” as well has essential information that will help the reader to be effective in communicating in the presence of others. The work begins by explaining the different types of groups that one may have to communicate to. For instance, a family is a group that one has to learn to communicate effectively to enhance the relationship among members (Bhalla, 2019). One is exposed to the family as the first group after birth, so one should learn how to communicate effectively by understanding the characteristics of families.
Different types of social
groups that exist in the community have been addressed to enhance knowledge.
Understanding the groups helps one to learn how to communicate effectively at
all times and avoid causing misunderstanding. The social groups, as discussed
in work, include clubs, friends, protesters, and religious people (Kim et al.
2019). People in the groups are likely to have a common goal to achieve, and
hence they must communicate similarly. Additionally, people in different groups
communicate differently as they pass the intended information. The work also
explains that virtual communication is where people in different places can
exchange ideas using available technology.
The work on “Leadership
and problem solving” provides sufficient knowledge about how to lead a group.
Leaders have the responsibility of ensuring that others follow them so that
they can achieve the set goals. One leading the others has responsibilities
such as harmonizing, mediating, communicating, and decision-making. The
processes ensure that the company succeeds and competes effectively with other
organizations operating in the market. The work provides insight into the
difference between a manager and a leader and hence inspires everyone to be a
leader who inspires others to work instead of forcing them (Mumford &
Higgs, 2019). A leader should stop wasting time in the meeting but instead, he
or she should engage in planning and executing meetings effectively to save
time. One reading the work gets critical knowledge that may be used by people
in various issues to enhance success. Communication and problem solving are
other essential issues addressed concerning leaders. A leader has to have
diverse knowledge since he or she has to show others how to follow.
