Working in groups can make the study more productive, efficient, and creative. It helps to recognize individual talents, abilities, and competence. Sometimes, group work can be challenging but it is an effective way of learning and cooperating with others. This method is important to encourage all students to participate in the learning process. The members get useful information from one another to extend their knowledge. My classmates and I were assigned to work in groups which help us to cooperate, to share ideas, to do our best, and to combine skills.
The first group was group one. The topic of this group was “Intercultural Communications” which was about how communications differ from culture to culture and the importance of context in intercultural communications. They were organized and creative with every topic. In this presentation, they used different resources to explain themes such as pictures, concept maps, and videos to be easier to understand. This presentation was really interesting because many individuals have different cultural norms and being able to understand which cultural groups people identify with can be a challenge.
The second group was group two. The topic was “Communicating in Groups.” This was my group work and the presentation was really productive because we divided the content according to our strengths and knowledge, which was a good strategy. We tried to make everything understandable using different tools and analyzing the material to explain the importance of effective communication. This was a good method to explain our points of view, to communicate with our classmates and to help each other in the process. In addition, our topic was very helpful to develop our work because it helped us to recognize the different type groups and how important is to communicate with others.
Finally, the last group was group three. Their topic was “Leadership and Problem Solving.” This presentation was really interesting because they were organized, had effective communication, cooperation, and leadership. This demonstrates that they put into practice what was learned in their chapter. It taught me the importance of leadership to set goals and accomplish them. Also, it gave us the steps to be able to solve a problem. For example, identify the problem, analyze the problem, determine criteria for judging solutions, identify alternative solutions, evaluate solutions and decide, and implement the agreed-upon solution and assess it.
To conclude, these presentations contained useful information to implement in life. We discussed the fundamental of speech. Personally, I liked every group because their topics were well- explain. We recognized, identified, organized, and explained every chapter giving details and facts. We made every presentation creative using tools such as videos, concept maps, pictures, and lists, which are helpful to understand the subjects. Even though group work can be challenging because not everyone put the same effort, this was not the case since everyone participated and gave the best of them. The professor was very pleased with our presentations giving good reviews about them. This group work helped me to share ideas, express myself, and participate with my classmates.
Beautifully written. It sometimes is hard to work in groups, however this really is our world.
